Hi there,

Here are some story problems. The first two are fairly easy. The last ones are a bit harder. Send me your answers.

1. There are 7 days in a week. How many days in 3 weeks.
2. At 2 cents each, how many pictures post cards can you buy for 8 cents?
3. Do you know Roman Numerals?  I=1, V=5, X=10, L=50,  C=100, and M=1000? Roman numerals are found on many clocks, in copyrights in books, and many other places instead of numbers.

I-1, II=2,III=3, IV=4, V=5, VI=6,VII=7, VIII=8, IX=9, X=10, XI=11. XII=12, XIII=13, XIV=14, XV=15, XVI=16, XVII=17, XVIII=18, XIX=19, XX=20, and so on, as shown below.

Watch the pattern when you want to make a number that ends in 4 or 9. That patterns holds true all the time. It is like a puzzle. I know you are all good at puzzles.

4. Can you figure out  how to write the roman Numerals for the numbers 522, 784, 1,385 and 2015?

5. Mrs. James paid $2 for currants and raspberries and 50 cents for for sugar. She made 30 jars of jelly which she sold for 20 cents a piece. If the jars cost her 2 cents each, how much did she make in profit?
